Recent GUVTU Activities

 

Here's a quick summary of some exciting activities performed and accomplished by GUVTUers since early summer:

  • Supplied Project Healing Waters with 6 PFD's for outdoor outings.
  • In process of helping the Lyme School in NH purchase a chiller for their Trout In the Classroom (TIC) program.
  • In VT, we sent $2,000.00 to the White River Partnership to support TIC programs in the White River Watershed—in total there are 14 schools; 2 new schools plan to join.
  • Conducted fly casting instruction clinic for students at Randolph Technical Career Center.
  • Conducted basic fly tying instructions for 21 members of the Dartmouth College 5Rivers/TU Chapter.
  • Conducted day long fly tying and casting instructions with the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences (VINS) for the Chang Memorial.
  • Awarded $4,500.00 Embrace-A-Stream (EAS) grant for 2020 dam removal restoration on the Second Branch of the White River (see below for details about how to participate in TU EAS Orvis online challenge Nov. 4–10 to raise additional funds toward the project.
  • Actively participated with the MadDog Chapter, CT River Valley Chapter, Vermont Natural Resources Council, and Connecticut River Conservancy to review and make suggested modifications to the Killington/Pico ski areas proposal to withdraw water for snow making.
